TrainerRx

Project Overview: TrainerRx

TrainerRx is a digital solution to in–person physical therapy. The app consists of courses, videos, tips and programs that act as an alternate route for clients needing physical therapy. The owners of TrainerRx came to us to completely redesign their current app and add new features and update existing ones. Some of their concerns were:

  • Poor user experience with multiple customer pain points

  • Dated user interface

  • Not intuitive to users

Role: Digital Product Designer

For this project, I was one of two designers splitting the tasks equally. We both contributed to each step of the project process.

User Personas & Journey Maps

At the beginning of this process, the team and I established user personas and journey maps to begin the user experience for the new design. Not all customers using the app are at the same so understanding how they may use it and what pain points they could encounter was very important.

Working Sessions

Organizing this app with the best feature set possible was very important for a successful user experience. White boarding sessions and sticky note exercises were done regularly in the early stages of the project.

Idea Boards

Once all of our ideas and possibilities were brought forward during working sessions, the next step was to develop idea boards. Ideas boards are quick sketches just to get the idea across of potential features. dozens of ideas board are generated, and then as a team and with the client we performed a quick exercise to filter through boards the clients like and that would benefit the app.

User Flows

After the feature set was finalized, user flows were the next step. With a lot of new additions, we had to make sure we could make them all fit in the most logical sequence.

Wireframes

After the user flows were created, it was time to start making some wireframes. These were very helpful as a visual blueprint of the app.

Unfortunately after this step, the company was sold and we did not get to continue the project. HOWEVER! We enjoyed the process and learned a lot about creating interactive applications such as TrainerRX.
